Today was supposed to be a hard day. I’ve taken steps.

I keep a huge catalog of images clipped from the internet. I even wrote an application that helps me keep track of all of it in a sensible way. Todays sketch is pulled from this bin and it’s an interpretation of the Thomas Dicksee painting, “Miranda.”

Sketching from life is nice but I haven’t done any for this challenge because I don’t want to be distracted by trying to figure out composition and subject matter (and all the rest of it) at the same time. The tiny challenges are supposed to be frictionless enough to guarantee that they get done. Copying from existing works means that you can still be as creative as you want without worrying about making sure you get a nice picture on the other end.

Shading this one was fun although I really miss using blending sticks.

I’m doing a #tinychallenges in December. You can too!
