Here’s a tip for those of you having trouble seeing posts from (just the folks that are important to you) in your dashboard. Tumblr is just a blogging platform which means that at it’s core it makes RSS feeds. These feeds can be taken from the public-facing blogs of any tumblr user and put into (for instance: Google Reader) or NetNewsWire. Whenever a new post appears on the blog in question, you’ll get notified in that application. There are even a few great desktop clients for Google Reader like “Reeder” that work kind of like your email program and put a little number on your dock when feeds are updated.
