I received my IGDA Professional membership card in the mail.

It is a small piece of laminated plastic. The borders of it are slightly rough and it has the stickum on the back signifying that it is still new.

Seeing this reflection, a physical manifestation of my intent to pursue independent game development for a living, is in no small way terrifying.

Will I be able to stick with this? Will I run out of ramen before I can make enough money making games for people to play? Will I take a job-job to pay for my kids shoes leaving me without enough time to build something wonderful? Will anyone like what I make?

The card is not a ticket to success. The card is a signpost on the road.
